Restaurant Review: Tiffinbox etc.

I love food. I will admit that. I especially love quality food at a good restaurant. Very rarely you would find fine dining with good service and the food tasting finger licking good. When Tiffin Box was selected as a destination to meet up few friends, I had my expectations high and the team at Tiffin Box did not disappoint me.

It was lunch time on a Wednesday. I found enough space to park my car in Inorbit mall. As I walked up to the restaurant, it was a pleasant surprise to see the place had already getting filled up and the staff ready to rock and roll. Ample natural lighting and the tickling aroma of hot steaming food spread warmth in the ambiance.

We were greeted with the traditional corn soup. While we sipped that we snacked on groundnut cutlets, chicken tikka – aptly cooked with a tinge of spice and lemon. The kholapurichicken  masala, paneer biryani combination was perfect. We delved into discovering the traditional tastes. The food counter was well dressed up like a well planned wedding reception.

Veg options at Tiffinbox Etc.

My favorites: Non-veg and sweets!

Sumeet, operations head of Tiffin Box, played a perfect host and explained the concept and idea behind the Tiffin Box brand. Tiffin box – brings nostalgic moments, when you had to wait to see the surprise snack your mom packed for you, when you went off to school. It was always a combination of nutrition and taste which was enough to keep me full yet hearty. This Tiffin Box brings you the same. They have four different styles and we sampled the Delhi and Kolkata variants – both were simply yum!

Delhi tiffin and the Kolkata tiffins!

The chefs are particular about the taste. They try to match the palette to the traditional tastes from across India, some of them being Gujarati, Rajasthani, Marwari, Sindhi, Maharastrian, Punjabi, Awadhi and Hyderbadi while trying to retain their authenticity.

Special mention goes to the service which was top notch as the enthusiastic staff knew each of the dishes well and were more than happy to serve. I found that I had lunch with a team that was as pumped up about their food as we were and that, my friends, is rare.

Nalli Nihari – the star dish of the day

As soft music played in the background, we moved on to the desserts and ice cream and the whole experience was simply refreshing. I would highly recommend their Nalli Nihari and mutton curry which were out of this world and am particularly impressed with the peanut cutlets which will melt in your mouth.

Rating: Now to the rating. This is going to be tough as I am biased towards the non-veg food and I simply loved it.
