A pinch of this, a handful of that

I was invited to the launch of the book by Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyals: A pinch of this, a handful of that the other day and it was at Nature’s basket @ Domlur, Bangalore. Chef Manu Chandra added the much needed moderation and observation to the event while Rushina went on to explain and recreate her favorite recipes from the book.

The book is priced at INR 595 and offers a set of recipes from various tastes from Gujarati, Sindhi, Goan and many other Indian recipes from the time tested inspirations blended to match the international cuisine. Some of the dishes cater from Thai and Chinese to Arabic delicacies. While this sauntered potatoes where the crowd favorite, I liked the prawn dish more. The launch ended with a delightful healthy salad Rushina managed to whip out quickly to the delight of the food bloggers and food fanatics.

What I liked about the book especially is the fact that these are traditional recipes that you don’t get on Google but are passed on from clinging on to your grandmother’s pallu as a kid and from travelling all around the world to absorb the local smells, tastes, thoughts and palates.

The book would be a good addition to your arsenal if you are starting to explore new tastes or want to whip up a delight in a short time. You can also buy the book at a discounted price on Flipkart. Good luck Rushina.
